Positivity & Inspiration

One of my favorite ways to de-stress and stay motivated is through reading. I typically read non-fiction books by female authors. I find these to be the most helpful in keeping me motivated and focused. I challenge you to explore different genres and authors to find which ones work best for you. Reading provides an escape from whatever could be troubling you or causing stress. Here are some of the things I am currently reading, I suggest these and hope you try reading to help manage stress!

  1. Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst. Lysa is a Christian author, and in this book she explains how to deal with rejection and a feeling of loneliness.
  2. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso. I’ve already read this book once but I am going to reread it for motivation. Sophia details the struggles she faced when building her empire as well as advice to young women on building their own.
  3. Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist. This book is full of short stories to inspire readers to see the good in life, and looking on the bright side.
  4. Awaken by Priscilla Shirer. This book is a 90 day devotional focused on praying expectantly.

LET’S TALK WATCHES!!

I’m not a big watch person, like at all. Nothing wrong with them, I think they’re cute but I’m just not a watch type of gal. I’ve known lots of people who wear watches on a daily basis. I, on the other hand, always forget to put them on in the morning.

However, I was told that I needed to purchase a watch for my clinicals next semester. So I went on the hunt for the perfect watch for me. I wanted one that would be pretty nice and last me a long time, but I also wanted one that would be stylish and cute as well. But, I also have a very small wrist so most watches look ridiculous on my arm. Me being the marble obsessed woman I am, I searched for marble watches LOL. And I found the perfect watch for me!

As someone who is not fond of change, I found this quote very inspiring. It serves as a reminder to remain positive even in the face of adversity. Though things may seem to be out of your control, take a breath and find peace in the knowledge that things are ever-changing.

The Importance of Living a Healthy Lifestyle

As a future Nurse, I have taken many classes, and am continuing to learn about the importance of taking adequate care of our bodies. There are countless diseases and complications that may arise from failing to treat our bodies right. While it may seem hard to get started with living healthy, it is actually quite simple. Exercising and clean eating will help you feel better and allow you to achieve physical wellness.

However, taking care of yourself is deeper than just exercise or eating healthy. It is also just as important to care for your mental and emotional health as well.

Throughout this blog, I will be discussing ways that I maintain my health and tips that could also help you. Right now I am trying the 8-week challenge organized by 1UP Nutrition. Stay tuned for my thoughts and results!
